Prepare Yourself to Help Someone in Crisis

Iowa State University Extension and Outreach is offering free classes on mental health. As an agricultural advocate you can participate in stress assistance and suicide prevention education to prepare yourself to respond to a mental health or substance crises.

Mental Health First Aid Workshop

Learn how to help someone who is developing a mental health problem or experiencing a mental health crisis. The program will help you identify, understand, and respond to signs of mental illnesses and substance use disorders.

Training is offered online: 2-hour self-study course plus 6-hour virtual instructor-led certification training

Say "Yes" to saving the life of a friend, colleague, sibling, or neighbor. Learn how to recognize the warning signs of a suicide crisis and how to question, persuade, and refer someone to help.
