AASVF Midwest Golf Outing set for August 25!
The AASV Foundation will return to Fox Ridge Golf Club in Dike, Iowa for its 2010 Midwest Golf Outing, scheduled for Wednesday, August 25. The Foundation is pleased to recognize DeWaay Capital Management, Elanco Animal Health, and Pfizer Animal Health, who will each be sponsoring a golf hole at the event. Sponsorship opportunities are still available for companies wishing to host a contest at one of the golf holes or sponsor the luncheon, beverage cart, or awards dinner during the event. In addition, AASV members and industry supporters are invited to register a team (or individual) to golf in support of the AASV Foundation!

Vet 2011 is a celebration of the 250th anniversary of the founding of the world’s first veterinary school in 1761 in Lyon, France. The Alfort veterinary school, near Paris, came three years later. Both were founded by Frenchman Claude Bourgelat.

AASV to Hold Session at World Pork Expo
The AASV will hold a members-only session again this year at the World Pork Expo. This year’s session, entitled Challenges Surrounding the Use of Antibiotics in Swine Medicine, is chaired by AASV Vice president Tara Donovan.
Position Announcement: Director of Producer and Public Health
The National Pork Board, located in Clive, Iowa, is seeking a dynamic person to act as our Director of Producer and Public Health. The person in this position will be responsible for the development and implementation of research and programming related to zoonotic disease, antimicrobial use/resistance, occupational health and safety and other pork producer and public health issues related to pork production. This includes the development and delivery of educational material for producers and acting as liaison with veterinarians and technical experts with respect to regulatory oversight of these issues. Additionally, this person will work closely with the Director of Pork Safety to address pork-related, food-borne disease issues. As an expert in our Science and Technology department, this person will participate in long-range planning with regard to producer and public health research, and producer and public education and programs.
