FDA Issues Draft Guidance on the Judicious Use of Medically Important Antimicrobials in Food-Producing Animals
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has issued a draft guidance outlining the FDA’s current thinking on strategies to assure that antimicrobial drugs that are important for therapeutic use in humans are used judiciously in animal agriculture.

This spring, two student AASV members at NCSU-CVM participated in an International Pork Selective exchange program with the Ecole Nationale Vétérinaire de Toulouse in France. The following is a summary of their experience.
Ever Wish You Could Put a Face to a Name?
One advantage to the online version of the AASV membership directory is the presence of member photos. Sometimes it’s nice to be able to put a face with a name and over the years we have encouraged our members to submit to being photographed at the annual meeting or providing us with a picture we can use in the directory. Now it’s possible to upload your own photo in association with your directory listing.
Veterinary students invited to apply for swine externship grants
The AASV Foundation continues to provide support to veterinary students who participate in a swine externship. The Swine Externship Grant Program is available to all veterinary students in an effort to encourage students to consider a career in swine medicine and enable them to obtain valuable experience in a swine practice. The grant amounts range from $200 to $500 per student, based upon the actual expenses incurred during the externship.

The directory information on file for you will appear automatically when you enter your username and password. You will also see a response box enabling you to send any additions or corrections to the AASV office. The typical directory entry includes the member name, mailing address, business phone, fax, mobile phone, home phone, and one email address. The directory does not list multiple email addresses.

This position for a Technical Manager, Swine is located in the Kansas City area. The person will be responsible for design, implementation, and report on market support trials. Person will also provide technical support to marketing on all promotional pieces, programs, development of key technical statements, and competitive analysis. Person will provide technical sales support, training, and handle customer inquiries. Lastly, generate written technical papers, and make oral presentations at professional meetings.
