Eichelberger Farms seeks a Staff Swine Veterinarian. The Swine Veterinarian is responsible for providing practical and scientific support, in order to achieve a sustainable competitive advantage in the pork industry. The Swine Veterinarian is also responsible for direct interaction with company producers and providing verification of swine herd health ensuring adherence to standard operating procedures and production practices. The Swine Veterinarian will address herd-health related concerns and will communicate them through the appropriate management team.

Position Announcement: Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory Director

The University of Minnesota Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory (VDL) Director is responsible for strategic direction and overall laboratory operations, enhancing strength and vitality of the VDL by developing new collaborations and establishing partnerships between faculty, industry, government and other potential supporters. In collaboration with College leadership and faculty, the VDL Director will develop the operating plan of the laboratory, including the infrastructure and resources to support the plan. The Director also is responsible for the continual assessment of the VDL capabilities to compete successfully for diagnostic services, partnerships and business development opportunities.

SHIC-AASV Webinar Will Address Emerging PRRS Virus Strains L1C 1-2-4 and Rosalia

Emerging diseases sometimes come with familiar names coupled with increased risk and need for response. In the US, the PRRSV L1C variant of RFLP 1-4-4 has been a significant challenge in the Upper Midwest for two years and now PRRSV L1C 1-2-4 has become a concern. In Spain, a PRRSV strain with increased virulence known as Rosalia has affected production since 2020. SHIC, with AASV and Iowa State University’s Swine Medicine Education Center, will host a webinar on emerging PRRSV strains on Tuesday, February 21, 2023, at 11:00 am CT.

MentorVet Scholarship Applications Due Feb 3

The American Association of Swine Veterinarians and MentorVet will be collaborating to launch a new mentorship program for young swine veterinarians in 2023. For this partnership, AASV will be awarding 5 full scholarships to early-career swine veterinarians within AASV to participate in the Spring 2023 MentorVet Program. Scholarship applications are due February 3.

Position Announcement: Food Animal Veterinary Diagnostician

The Veterinary Population Medicine Department at the University of Minnesota, College of Veterinary Medicine, is recruiting a food animal veterinary diagnostician. This position will be an annually renewable faculty at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor.
