The Canadian Association of Swine Veterinarians in partnership with the Canadian Swine Health Board is coordinating 10 area regional control and elimination or ARC and E projects across Canada.

The National Pork Producers Council is extremely troubled by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agencyâs release earlier this month to several activist groups of personal information on U.S. hog farmers and on other livestock and poultry farmers and, possibly, business-confidential data on their farms.
AASV Office Closed February 28 – March 6
The AASV office will be closed Thursday, February 28 through Wednesday March 6 to allow staff to travel to and from San Diego to conduct the 2013 AASV Annual Meeting. Online meeting registration is now closed, but registrations will be accepted on-site in San Diego. Please do not send fax communications to the office, and expect delayed responses to email messages while the office is closed. The AASV office will reopen on Thursday, March 7. See you in San Diego!
Position Announcement: Swine Health Faculty
The University of Minnesota, College of Veterinary Medicine, Department of Veterinary Population Medicine announces career opportunities for tenured and tenure-track faculty positions in Swine Health. The College seeks highly motivated individuals with the ability to build and lead basic/applied research programs that contribute to advancing swine health and production. The faculty will work in collaboration with the Swine Disease Eradication Center (SDEC) an internationally recognized group of expert faculty and industry partners that work collaboratively to understand the immunology, pathogenesis and epidemiology of diseases impacting swine production and health; to develop strategies and techniques for disease eradication and welfare improvement; and to support sound food policies at the national and international levels. Appointments will be at the rank of assistant, associate or full professor, depending on qualifications and experience and consistent with collegiate and University policies.

2nd International Symposium on Neglected Influenza Viruses
The 2nd International Symposium on Neglected Influenza Viruses will be held March 7 and 8, 2013 in Dublin, Ireland. This Symposium will retain the format, and build on the success of the inaugural symposium held in Florida in 2010.
