Position Announcement: Veterinarian

The Veterinary Division of the North Carolina Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services is seeking a Veterinarian to work in the control and eradication of contagious and infectious diseases in livestock, poultry and swine or those communicable to man through an animal host. The position is responsible for program disease efforts in the territory primarily, and throughout the state in general, including knowledge of the cooperative agreements and implementation of state and federal disease programs, tracebacks and education and outreach efforts, as well as other duties as necessary.

APHIS Announces Open Period for FY 2024 Funding Opportunities Supporting Animal Disease Preparedness and Response Activities

The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) is continuing to advance animal disease preparedness and response through its Farm Bill animal health programs. APHIS is seeking project proposals for the National Animal Disease Preparedness and Response Program (NADPRP) and the National Animal Health Laboratory Network (NAHLN). The agency is also announcing its next round of purchases for the National Animal Vaccine and Veterinary Countermeasures Bank (NAVVCB).

Second Round of SHIC Wean-to-Harvest Biosecurity Projects Funded

The Swine Health Information Center’s Wean-to-Harvest Biosecurity Research Program, funded in collaboration with the Foundation for Food & Agriculture Research and the Pork Checkoff, has selected five additional projects for funding after review of round two proposal submissions. This brings the total number of projects awarded by the program to 15 for addressing a significant biosecurity gap in US swine production. Institutions receiving awards in the second round are Lowe Consulting, Pipestone Research, Texas Tech University, University of Missouri, and University of Montreal. Real-time results of all projects will be shared as quickly as they become available.
