What you’ve been waiting for: Bruce Vincent’s AASV presentation

The AASV 2010 Annual Meeting presentation, “With vision, there is hope,” by Montana logger and motivational speaker Bruce Vincent generated many positive comments and numerous requests for a copy of the presentation. Mr. Vincent was kind enough to grant permission to share the video of his presentation with AASV members who weren’t able to attend the meeting. While we are not able to provide a copy for download or public viewing, members may view the presentation online at http://www.aasv.org/members/only/video/2010.php, along with other general session presentations from the AASV conference. In his presentation, Vincent draws comparisons between the challenges faced by the logging and pork industries. “If we’re going to survive, we’re going to have to become activists for our own industries.”

Veterinary Accreditation Changes Effective February 1

The USDA is enacting sweeping changes of the veterinary accreditation program beginning February 1, 2010. The National Veterinary Accreditation Program (NVAP) will require all accredited veterinarians to select between two categories of accreditation and will require continuing education prior to renewal. Although accreditation is a voluntary program, the United States depends extensively on accredited veterinarians to carry out many of its animal health programs and services–including animal inspections, testing, and certifications. Accredited veterinarians serve as the first line of defense in ensuring the health of the Nation’s livestock.
