Dealing with the Ambiguity of COVID-19
As COVID-19 continues to impact our personal and professional lives in ways thought unimaginable just a few months ago, we find ourselves filled with uncertainty and forced to confront a level of ambiguity most of us aren’t comfortable dealing with. AASV’s Online Salary Survey Closes Saturday – Help Make the Results Representative!
If you haven’t yet participated in the 2020 AASV Salary Survey, the moment you have been waiting for (the “last minute”) has arrived! The online survey will close this coming Saturday, May 30, so don’t put it off any longer. There are still 583 of 966 eligible members who have yet to complete the survey! If you’re an “Active” AASV Member (non-retired veterinarian) in the US or Canada, you should have received an email message containing the link to the survey last month. You may also access the survey by logging into your AASV member account at https://www.aasv.org/members. If your AASV username/password aren’t handy, just click the “Reset Password” link in the upper right of the website to have them emailed to you.
SHIC Monitoring How ASF Biocontainment in China Is Changing Management
Since African swine fever (ASF) was diagnosed in China in August 2018, veterinarians have been studying the virus’s characteristics and learning how to manage in barns. The Swine Health Information Center (SHIC) is monitoring these processes as part of its mission of preparedness for foreign animal disease management for the US national herd. Two US-based practitioners have experience with ASF management practices in China and shared their perspectives with SHIC.
VS Memorandum: Guidelines for Autogenous Biologics – Comments Accepted Until June 8
The Center for Veterinary Biologics (CVB) recently added Draft Document 638 – VS Memorandum: Guidelines for Autogenous Biologics, to its website for a 3-week comment period. The CVB will consider all comments received by June 8, 2020 before finalizing the guidance document. The purpose of this memorandum is to describe the procedures and guidelines for interpretation of the requirements for autogenous biologics under the provisions of title 9, Code of Federal Regulations (9 CFR), sections 113.113, 113.3(b)(8), and the administrative terminology in section 101.2.
