AASV 2006 Annual Meeting registration open
The AASV is now accepting registrations for the 2006 Annual Meeting, to be held March 4-7 in Kansas City, Missouri. Registration materials are in the mail to all AASV members, and online registration may be accessed at http://www.aasv.org/annmtg. Members who sign up prior to February 10 qualify for the reduced registration fee.
University of Illinois Researchers Work to Improve Chinese Swine Production
A group of researchers from the University of Illinois travels to China to help swine producers improve production there. The group of faculty members includes Larry Firkins, assistant dean for public engagement at the UI College of Veterinary Medicine who works in swine health, Mike Ellis, professor of animal sciences, Ted Funk, a University of Illinois Extension specialist in agricultural engineering, and Robert Easter, dean of the College of Agricultural, Consumer and Environmental Sciences.

FMD Outbreak Identified in Israel
An outbreak of Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) strain O has been confirmed in 15 calves in a group of 520 vaccinated steers housed in a feedlot in the Tsefat District of Israel located approximately 5km from the border with Lebanon.

He is now employed as Technical Services Manager for Extension for San Miguel Corporation, a Philippine-based food company dealing with poultry, livestock, feeds, and animal health products.
