AASV 2005 Annual Meeting Social Program

The AASV annual meeting offers numerous opportunities for attendees to interact on a social basis during the meeting. In an effort to help you plan your schedule, here’s a listing of the many activities taking place. SATURDAY, March 5

SCHERING-PLOUGH ANIMAL HEALTH LUNCHEON

Join Schering-Plough Animal Health for lunch and a Pork Industry roundtable discussion on “Condemnations – Emerging Trends, Future Solutions.” Drs. Lisa Becton, Paul DuBois, and Kellye Pfalzgraf will contribute to the roundtable discussion which begins at 11:00am. A make-your-own-sandwich buffet will be served to those in attendance at noon, allowing time to visit with the roundtable speakers before heading to your first pre-conference seminar.

Enjoy an entertaining view into the realm of the Olympic athlete through numerous interactive exhibits. Start your day off right with nourishment for your soul as well as food for your body! Gather with other AASV meeting attendees for breakfast, devotional time, and fellowship, including a warm Canadian welcome from Dr. Mark Jacobson and a devotional presented by Dr. Keith Wilson. The devotion will conclude by 8:00 am to allow registrants to attend pre-conference seminars, but feel free to stay and visit if you wish. A continental breakfast will be provided, compliments of the AVMA Professional Liability Insurance Trust. All AASV meeting attendees and their families are welcome.

AASV spouses are invited to join "first lady" Carol Waddell on a shopping excursion to Toronto’s Eaton Centre. The Centre is touted as one of the most visited tourist attractions in Toronto, and boasts 285 shops, restaurants and services under a spectacular glass galleria. If you like to shop with friends, meet in the Westin Hotel lobby and make plans to travel together via taxis or the economical public transportation system.

The fun continues on Sunday evening with Intervet’s "Meet the Students" reception for veterinary students and AASV meeting attendees. Back by popular demand, the evening will feature the memorable magic of David Harris. This exceptional magician will amaze and charm you – just be careful that he doesn’t charm the watch right off your wrist! No tickets are necessary; food, beverages, and fun abound! In addition, students seeking employment in the swine industry (either upon graduation this spring or for externship training) will have an opportunity to post their resumes at the gathering. Don’t miss your chance to meet and visit with some of swine medicine’s up and coming talent!

AASV SPOUSE TOUR "WINTER IN NIAGARA"

Enjoy a casual atmosphere along with a variety of food and beverages – there will be plenty for everyone. While you eat, watch the AASV presentation featuring information about the past 36 years of AASV (you’re sure to see some familiar faces – maybe one of them will be yours)! The highlight of the evening will be the presentation of the prestigious AASV Awards. We will conclude around 8:00 pm so you can retire early or enjoy the evening on the town as you wish. Tickets for the reception are provided to all meeting registrants (check your name badge holder). Tickets for accompanying adults are available for $10.00; children under twelve are free. Make sure to bring your tickets with you; you’ll need them to obtain your beverages.
