The University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine at Urbana-Champaign seeks an outstanding individual to serve as Head of the Department of Veterinary Clinical Medicine. Candidates must have a strong record of leadership, a clear vision of the future of veterinary medicine and a desire to lead a diverse, dynamic community of veterinarians.
Applicants must possess the DVM degree or its equivalent and have evidence of additional research and clinical education (PhD, and/or specialty board certification). Candidates must have a strong professional record compatible with appointment as professor with tenure. The candidate must have demonstrated skill in organizational and administrative functions. A record of demonstrated fiscal responsibility, personnel management, and leadership is essential. The individual must have the vision to lead and develop departmental programs in research, teaching, and service.
The individual will be responsible for the execution of departmental, college and university policies and shall direct departmental activities. The Head will lead the department and will maintain and foster high standards of scholarly activity. He/she will initiate and supervise the departmental recruiting, mentoring, promotion, and tenure activities. He/she will have responsibility for the fiscal management of the department.
This position is a full-time, twelve-month appointment. Salary is negotiable. Anticipated starting date is on or about July 1, 2005. This is a security-sensitive position.
